"I took these shots back in 1982 at a small gig Sade and her band played in Southend-on-Sea, England. At the time Sade was still unknown and her band members were amongst my best mates. We got to the gig sitting in the back of a white transit van."
Sade and her co-songwriter and sax player, Stuart Matthewman, bassist Paul Denman and keyboard player Andrew Hale have gone on to find deserved international fame.
The Sade portraits are currently touring in an exhibition of sculptures by Royal Society of British Sculptors member Guy Portelli entitled Pop Icons.
Sade's 2010 album Soldier of Love has topped the charts in the USA and Europe, receiving international rave reviews.
